Nothing reminds me more how fast the ever-changing colors of spring and early summer occur than the appearance of phlox.  When I begin to notice the profuse colors of phlox decorating the landscape, I know that the hot, humid days of an Iowa summer are just around the corner.

Phlox are also known as Wild Sweet William.
